How did you two meet?

We met our first year of medical school. Chris was the first person I met and eventually became my best friend. The rest is history… 🙂

What is your special engagement story?

Chris and I always dreamed of going to Paris, so Chris planned to propose there in December. Unfortunately, my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and always dreamed of seeing me get engaged, so Chris moved our engagement up by a year. He flew his family to my hometown of Nederland and surprised me by proposing in front of both of our families during lunch so my mom could be a part of it. Later that night he had a surprise Paris-themed engagement party with friends and family. We lost my mom 3 months later, but thanks to Chris, I will never forget the smile on her face when he proposed that day. 🙂

What theme and color palette did you follow?

The theme was whimsical with a touch of glam. The color palette was lilac, silver, gold, and a variety of pinks!

Did you have favorite flowers or a decor area?

My bridal bouquet, the wedding arch, our champagne tower, and the reserved seating for his father and my mother. Also, our guests LOVED the specialty drinks we named after my mom and his dad—the “Fancy Nancy” and the “Sonny’s Ole Fashioned”!


Did you create or customize favors?

My nickname is “Dink” because I loved Dinkie doozies from great american cookie company when we were in medical school—so we had dinkie doozies that we put in special packaging for the guests. We also had a coffee bar and had customized coffee mugs made.


What are your wedding gown details?

Augusta Jones from UnBridaled–extremely glamorous fit and flare dress with a low back outlined in crystals.

What made your wedding day unique?

Definitely our guests who travelled from out of town to celebrate our special day with us! We tried to make each detail of our wedding personable from each song we selected, the memory table we created, the champagne tower, our gorgeous flowers, and fun cake flavors (pina colada and funfetti.) Also, even though my mom and his dad have passed, we incorporated them into the wedding to make sure they were with us the whole day! 🙂


What was your biggest splurge?

Catering–but SO worth it! The food was amazing!


What was your favorite moment on your wedding day?

Our first private dinner together as husband and wife.


What are other points or advice you would like to share about your love story or wedding day to other new brides?

DON’T sweat the small stuff! Little things will go wrong, but the most important part is to enjoy your day as much as possible because it flies by! And eat your wedding cake–you earned it!
