We are nearing the end of our series on Pantone’s Top Spring colors, and we are saving some of the best for last. This week we are covering glacier grey, and no not anything like 50 shades, rather a beautiful neutral that lends elegance to any celebration. Over the years, grey has become a much more popular color among brides who want a more subdued palette, without the stark contrast of black and white. Grey is a very versatile choice for brides who want to play up other elements of their wedding, and add distinct pops of color. One of the best things about this color is that it can be used all throughout the year, for both winter and summer weddings. Truly, glacier grey is a great choice for the modern bride.
Let’s first talk about glacier grey and florals. Of course, a bride can pick grey flowers for her wedding such as silver brunia, a popular choice in winter. Often, silver brunia is paired with white anenomies for the bride or bridesmaid bouquets. Another choice is dusty miller, which takes on a greyish hue when paired with pastel flowers. Ask your florist how to use these particular plants in your floral design.
Grey is also an ultra modern choice for ceremony colors. We love the look of a glacier grey tablescape, accented with lush greenery, creamy flowers or even bright colors for an extra pop of color! It’s also very trendy to use glacier grey against a neon yellow, as in Em and Max’s wedding featured on the Polka Dot Bride. While still extremely classy, adding the bright yellow hue expresses youthful vibrancy. And you can’t go wrong with beautiful, grey, bridesmaids dresses. Let your maids pick their own dresses in different shades of grey to create a neutral ombre effect that is super glamorous.
No matter how you choose to use glacier grey, work with your florist and wedding planner to pick a palette that is perfect for you!
