A Vibrant Indian Wedding Weekend: Part 1

DAY 1: A Vibrant Sangeet at Pecan Springs Ranch

The first night of Niyanthi and Tini’s wedding weekend began in the Texas Hill Country at Pecan Springs Ranch, just outside the city.

There was color everywhere.

But before the dancing started, before the performances, before the games and late-night celebrations, there were the details.

Arriving in Color

Niyanthi and Tini dressed in coordinating shades of purple, both in traditional Indian attire filled with intricate details and texture. Their outfits were almost as fun as their personalities, but what outfit can outshine a couple with this much love and joy?

Their guests arrived equally ready to celebrate. Jewels, embroidery, bright colors, beautiful fabrics, sparkle, pattern….

EVERYONE understood the assignment.

The Personal Details

For a Sangeet celebration, tradition is part of the experience—and Niyanthi & Tini found plenty of ways to make those traditions their own. Niyanthi’s mehndi was intricate and beautifully traditional, with delicate patterns covering her hands.

Tini’s henna was decidedly more personal. His became a tiny illustrated map of the things that make up their story: a basketball, a cheeseburger, the state of California with a heart marking home, a larger heart with “NRR” at its center, and a maple leaf. Traditional writing and patterns tied everything together.

The Sangeet

The details were thoughtful from the start. Rich shades of purple, yellow, pink, and orange set the tone, while marigolds brought a distinctly Indian touch to the evening. At the center of the evening was a circular backdrop designed to frame the couple as they watched the celebrations unfold.

A loveseat sat at the center, surrounded by an abundant mix of flowers, baskets, marigold garlands, and layers of decor. Hanging marigolds cascaded around the structure while flowers spilled outward, creating a lush, dimensional surround. It was colorful, playful, immersive, and most importantly, not overly formal

Additional soft seating flanked the dancing space so VIP family members could watch performances in comfort and style!

And it gave Niyanthi and Tini the best seats in the house.

The Unexpected

Their florals played with the balance between tradition and the unexpected. Marigolds nodded to the traditional Indian wedding aesthetic, while airy floral designs kept everything feeling light and whimsical.

Color-blocked tulle became part of the floral table runners. Colorful taper candles added another layer of movement.

Flowers weren’t confined to one predictable style or shape. They felt loose, joyful, and full of personality—just like the couple.

The Dancing

And then the Sangeet really began. Performances took over the evening, with BaliWood dancing bringing the energy up another notch.

Giant playing cards appeared to rank the dancing, and suddenly the crowd wasn’t just watching—they were cheering, laughing, judging, and fully participating.

That is what made this Sangeet feel so alive. It wasn’t a formal production happening around the guests. It was a celebration everyone was part of.

The Party Just Kept Getting Better

Once the performances wrapped, there was no shortage of ways to keep the night going. An open bar and enough food to keep everyone fueled for whatever came next.

Beer pong. Chandeliers. Colorful cornhole boards painted with Indian-inspired details.

Even the sweets joined the party: colorful cookies shaped like Texas, a maple leaf, and the Golden Gate Bridge—tiny references to the places and stories that mattered to Niyanthi and Tini.

There was even a towering puff pastry creation that looked almost too good to eat. Almost….

As Night One Wrapped up

By now, the night was a blur—in the best possible way. Guests danced, gathered around the fire pit, played beer pong & chandeliers, and kept the energy going late into the night.

Niyanthi and Tini were right in the middle of it all, smiling and soaking it in.

Lights streaked. The dance floor spun. No one was ready to go home. A pretty perfect end to night one.
